Harissa-Spiced Ground Beef (or Lamb)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground lamb
  • 2 tbsp harissa paste (mild, spicy or combo)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 small zucchini or spinach, chopped (for added bulk and nutrients)

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onions and garlic until soft and fragrant (about 3–4 minutes).
  3. Add ground meat, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned (about 7–10 minutes).
  4. Stir in harissa paste, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, letting the flavors meld.
  5. If using veggies (zucchini or spinach), add now and cook until soft.
  6. Finish with lemon juice and fresh herbs.

Serving Ideas:

  • Serve over cauliflower rice, zucchini noodles, or cauliflower mash
  • Top with a dollop of Greek yogurt or tahini
  • Wrap in lettuce leaves or low-carb flatbread
